friendly societies

The Royal Standard Friendly Society is a small UK Friendly Society, a member of the Asssociation of Friendly Societies, offering savings and life assurance plans for adults and children of all ages.

We are a forward thinking, mutual organization devoted entirely to our members, helping them to provide and prepare for the future. Importantly we offer affordable tax free saving plans for just £10 per month*.

We are run only for the benefit of our members. We have no shareholders (and there are no “bonus taking” directors either!), so ALL profits go back to our members.

We offer affordable savings plans (from just £10 a month) and (subject to the limits and terms of the scheme) your investment is TAX FREE*.

Plans are available only to UK residents.

Friendly societies (sometimes called mutual societies, benevolent societies or fraternal organisations) are mutual associations for insurance-like purposes. They often, especially in the past, conduct ceremonial and friendship activities. A Friendly Society is a benefit society composed of a body of people who join together for a common financial or social purpose.

*Under current legislation, the benefits receivable on maturity or death are free of all UK income tax and capital gains tax.
Your premiums are invested in a ‘tax exempt’ fund, which is free of tax on its gross income and capital gains. However, tax credits on share dividends cannot be reclaimed.
